| Hi there. After I moved to a different laptop and no longer work via a domain user, I'm unable to activate the license due to the "it was generated for other User/Machine" error. Upon searching, I found out that the username needs to remain the same at least... but back then i had a different laptop on a different domain, so not even my username can be recreated as the same. For now i registered with Community Edition (the features it has are already wow)... but this rule about username and machine name license limitation is of a nature that I don't think i can honestly recommend any developer or dba to purchase Professional Edition, because they'll just loose it eventually. I'll only recommend companies to buy it for their teams (at risk already, because hopefully those companies will never change their domain or user names). Please consider ways to cater for contractors/individuals. Apple also has device limitations, but has a functionality where you can "deregister" a device. Consider a similar functionality, because my Professional Edition license now seems to be tombstoned. |
